General Position Summary

Provides medical health care and assessment to inmates incarcerated at the Klamath County Jail.

Qualifications

  • Education, Certification, & Experience
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic OR certified at an equivalent or higher level.
    • CPR Certification
    • Valid Oregon Driver's License
    • Satisfactory criminal history and background review as determined by the Sheriff's Office.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Language Skills
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    • Mathematical Skills
      Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Reasoning Ability
      Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Computer Skills
      To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software and Epic, Word, Publisher, OHP, Alert & CCare Word Processing software.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Salary and Benefits

This is an hourly, non-exempt position, with a wage range of $ 18.28 - $ 23.80 per hour.  The pay range listed here reflects the FULL pay range for this position for the current fiscal year.  Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position that may include weekends and evenings. Exact schedule is to be determined by management. It is the attendance standards of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.  Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.
