Health Educator
Full Time Position
Salary: $21.98 - $27.80
Summary:
Klamath County Public Health is seeking a dedicated Community Health Educator to lead community health initiatives, with a primary focus on tobacco prevention and cessation. This role supports health education, the tobacco retail licensing program, and client access to community health services. The ideal candidate will actively engage with community members and organizations to plan and implement health promotion strategies aligned with the community health assessment and improvement plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver health education and tobacco prevention programs to diverse audiences.
- Collect and analyze data on significant health issues affecting Klamath County citizens.
- Coordinate and conduct culturally appropriate health promotion initiatives.
- Facilitate smoking cessation classes (training provided).
- Support the Tobacco Retail Licensing (TRL) program through inspections, education, and reporting.
- Assist clients in navigating health and human services.
- Plan and participate in public health outreach, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Obtain Community Health Worker certification within one year (training funded by employer).
Qualifications:
- Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED and at least two years of related experience.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management, public speaking, and data analysis.
- Language: Spanish bilingual is preferred but not required.
- License: Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent sitting, talking, and hearing; occasional standing and kneeling.
